(Event) Techbound Melbourne 2015


INTRODUCTION:

What an honor to be a part of the first ever TechBound event which was heald in Melbourne on the 20th of October 2015.

With a group of like minded people from all over the world to present to the local Melbourne IT Community. With over 50 attendees who came along to see what the future of IT is going to look like and how you need to be ahead of the game.

Techbound was formed to become an event to provide value adding  content to the IT Services Industry,  on how the industry has changed but now how you have to evolve your business to be ahead of the game. With the evolution of the Cloud if you don’t adapt you will be left behind before a blink of an eye.

The agenda for the event was as follows.

  • 3:00 PM - Marketing Reinvented with Inbound - Charles McKay, CEO, Synx
  • 3:15 PM - Getting Paid in the Future - Paul McNeill, CEO, Wise-Sync
  • 3:30 PM - Creating Happy Customers - Phill Claxton, Founder, DeskDirector
  • 3:45 PM - Q&A & Special Announcement
  • 4:00 to 8:00 PM - Open Bar & Appetizers

 

Starting with Chris Day CEO of IT Glue, Chris was discussing the topic of process, how if you document your business process you can then really save time and money in all aspects of your business. The second point was how does your service desk look? The idea of this being that you would build a team of 40 people on $50,000 per year rather than a team of 20 people on $100,000 per year, which is much more scalable and easier to resource.

George Bardissi from BVoIP was up next, George was discussing how to leverage services into your service offerings. Partnering with a vendor that provides a service for you and you just manage that service for your client. Why fight the change of the industry but rather embrace the change and get ahead of the game.

I was lucky enough to be up next, talking about how marketing in the B2B space has changed, if you don’t market today you wont exist tomorrow. If you don’t have a niche that you market to how are you going to get found? The old school outbound play book is broken and it's time to adopt the inbound markeing way.

Paul McNeill from Wise-Sync was then throwing down the future of payments, how to get paid in 2015 and beyond. Why do you have to wait 30 days to get paid, when Dell is -15 days? Clients want to pay now and by credit card so why don’t you let them?

Last but most definitely not least was the amazing Phil Claxton from DeskDirector, the smooth operator of the IT Services world. Phil's topic was managing your clients expectations, be honest with your client "Know your limits" say no and your client will respect you more than saying you can do everything.

Wrapping up the event went off like a hit and we are excited to be planning the next one.
